It isn’t a hassle anymore to file income taxes. Long lines are no longer a thing, and deadlines aren’t as stressful as they once were.
Online filing, or e-filing, enables you to file returns from the convenience of your home or office.
To file your Income tax returns online, follow these steps:

Step 4 | Ensure that all relevant tax information is calculated | If you don’t have a tax liability, skip this step. Prepare the tax return by calculating the tax payable, paying the tax, and entering the details of the challan. |
Step 5 | Verify the information above | Your computer will automatically save an XML file containing the details entered by you. |
Step 6 | Submit return | The XML file should be uploaded in the ‘Submit Return’ section. |
Step 7 | An electronic signature | As soon as you are prompted, you can digitally sign the file. It is okay to skip this step if you don’t have a digital signature. |
Step 8 | Verification of ITR confirmation | As soon as the e-filing has been completed, you will see a message on your screen confirming successful e-filing. You will be able to download the acknowledgement form – ITR-Verification and it will also be emailed to your registered email address. |
Step 9 | Return by e-verification | In addition to Netbanking and ATM, you can also use Aadhaar OTP, bank account numbers, demat account numbers, registered mobile numbers and email addresses to e-verify your return. As a result of e-verification, CPC, Bengaluru does not require a physical copy of the ITR-5 acknowledgement.

What is the process for downloading income tax returns?
For taxpayers to avoid last-minute stress and penalties, it is crucial to file their ITR on time. Taxpayers can verify the validity and legitimacy of e-filing by using the income tax verification form that is generated by the IT department once they have filed their ITR. It is only applicable to returns that have not been digitally signed.
In just a few steps, you can download the income tax return verification form.
1.) Log in to the Income Tax India website https://portal.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/UserLogin/LoginHome.html?lang=eng
2.) Select the ‘View Returns/ Forms’ option to view the e-filed returns

1.) Download the ITR-V by clicking on the acknowledgement number.
2.) Select ‘ITR-V Acknowledgement’ to begin the download
3.) To open the downloaded document, enter your PAN number, along with your birthdate, as your password.

- CPC Bangalore must receive your printed and signed document within 120 days of your e-filing. You can also verify your income tax return using Aadhaar OTP, net banking, ATM, etc.

What is the best way to check ITR status online?
Your income tax return status changes from ‘Verified’ to ‘ITR Processed’ once you have filed it and verified it.
Here’s how you can check your ITR status online after filing your tax return to find out what stage your return is at.
The first option
Login credentials not required
On the left side of the e-filing website, there is a tab for ITR status.
Following that, you are redirected to a new page where you need to enter your PAN number, ITR acknowledgment number, and captcha code.
A screen will appear once you have completed this step.

Logging in with credentials
Visit the website for e-filing.
View Returns/Forms by clicking on the option
Choose the assessment year and income tax returns from the dropdown menu
You will then be able to see the status of your filing (whether it has been verified or processed) on the screen.
You will be on the right side of the law and prevent any blocks in your financial competency if you keep the Income Tax Department informed about your income and taxability.
